About Helen's Hypnotherapy

Hello! I’m Helen Wilks, a Solution-Focused Clinical Hypnotherapist with a private practice based in Ferndown, Dorset, and I also offer sessions online.

I’m deeply passionate about helping people move past feeling “stuck” - whether that’s due to anxiety, stress, unhelpful habits, phobias, improving sports/work performance or simply a desire for more confidence and ease in their lives. Using Solution-Focused Hypnotherapy (SFH), a transformative modern and science-supported approach, I work collaboratively with my clients to harness their innate strengths and build positive, forward-looking change.

My own journey into hypnotherapy grew from lived experience: I’ve navigated my own challenges with stress and anxiety, which gives me a real, empathetic understanding of what it’s like to want to break free and create a more positive mindset. Before training as a hypnotherapist, I had a varied career, from marketing consultant to running a dog-walking business, ever-changing to fit in with family support needs.  I’ve spent time coaching at the Special Olympics and I currently volunteer with the Samaritans. As a mum of young adults (one of my children has a learning disability), I also know how mental health can touch every part of our lives, and that of our loved ones.

Because SFH is solution-oriented, we don’t dwell on the past. Instead, in our sessions, we’ll focus on where you want to be - what your goals are - and how to use your subconscious mind to support those changes. Whether your challenge is anxiety, habits such as nail-biting, phobias, or improving performance (at work, sport or in life), I’ll tailor our approach to what matters most to you.

I believe in making therapy as accessible and comfortable as possible: that’s why I offer a free initial consultation, so we can talk about what’s going on, what you’d like to achieve, and whether my way of working is the right fit for you, with no pressure to book. I’m insured, DBS-checked, and currently completing my Diploma in SFH (due December 2025), as well as a Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma.

Outside of hypnotherapy, I love cycling, walking the dog, gardening, travelling, volunteering with Samaritans and exploring Dorset to find the perfect cup of coffee! I find genuine joy in witnessing people reclaim their calm, confidence and direction, and it’s a huge privilege to be part of that journey.
